Gary Parent of Windsor has worked for DaimlerChrysler Canada since 1965. He is the financial secretary of CAW Local 444 and the president of the Windsor and District Labour Council. Parent is a member of the Ontario Federation of Labour and the Canadian Labour Congress. He is very active in the community having served as a member of the Windsor-Essex County Long Term Care Strategic Planning Committee, the Mayor’s Committee on Services for the Unemployed and the Windsor/Essex Committee on Physician Recruitment. He also served on the board of the United Way for Windsor-Essex County, was a member of the board of governors of the University of Windsor and was co-chair of the committee to bring a medical school to the University of Windsor, as well as many other boards in the Windsor/Essex community. Parent holds a Doctor of Law from the University of Windsor and an honorary diploma from St. Clair College.
